The area is built on a raised mahogany deck. The reception is also located in this area. There is a lounge area with a home style bar where guests can sit back and relax. The camp fire in front of the ‘mess’ area invites guests to enjoy a pre-dinner drink.
Enjoy scrumptious cuisine in the dining area overlooking the scenic river. All meals are prepared by experienced chefs and offer a fusion of pan-African, Italian and Asian cuisine. Guests on their Kenya vacation can choose to eat in the dining area or under the African stars. Breakfast and lunch can be served either in the camp or as a picnic during a morning of game watching.
Guests staying at the Karen Blixen Camp can cool off in the swimming pool or soak up the sun on one of the loungers with umbrellas. Alternatively, indulge in a muscle soothing massage, facial, pedicure or manicure in the privacy of your own tent. The ideal location of the camp allows guests to experience African wildlife in an environment that’s well known for its migration of about one and a half million Wildebeest, Zebra and Antelope on their annual trek between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. Game viewing however, is not just limited to the migration during July and November.
The Karen Blixen Camp is situated in one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world, making it the ideal location for Masai Mara game viewing. Guests on their Kenya vacation are recommended to enjoy an early morning game drive to optimise their game spotting opportunities. Guests will then return to a delicious breakfast. There are also afternoon or evening game drives available. Guests on their Kenya vacation can look forward to spotting Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino, Giraffe, Wildebeest and Zebra to name a few.
Guests who want to travel further can arrange for a picnic lunch and explore the area before returning in the late afternoon. Those who wish to get closer to nature can go on a walk in the bush with one of the experienced and knowledgeable guides and Masai rangers. Bird watchers will also be delighted with the birdlife surrounding the camp and adjacent areas.
The Karen Blixen Camp also provides visitors with the unique opportunity to explore the quiet corner of the Mara ecosystem of the Koiyaki Lemek Group Ranch which is home to the Leopard Gorge. The Leopard Gorge has featured in numerous BBC, National Geographic and Discovery Channel documentaries.
Enjoy a night drive where guests can see nocturnal animals such as Leopard. Alternatively, visit the Masai village, school and church. Hot air balloon trips can also be arranged, but pre-bookings are advised as numbers are limited.
